Arbitrum, a prominent layer-2 scaling solution for Ethereum, has taken significant steps to enrich its ecosystem by announcing a seamless integration with Farcaster, the decentralized social networking protocol.
This exciting development means that Arbitrum transactions are now fully compatible with Farcaster, expanding opportunities for developers and users within both communities. To commemorate this integration, a “Frame It” buildathon has been launched to inspire creative developments within the ecosystem.
The “Frame It” buildathon encourages developers to design “Frames” – modular, interactive components that can be integrated into Farcaster’s social platform. With a generous incentive of $500,000 in retroactive rewards, the initiative is expected to attract a diverse group of developers.
Participants in the buildathon can leverage Arbitrum’s powerful features and tap into Farcaster’s growing user base of over 350,000 accounts and 59 million casts to innovate and enhance the functionality of both platforms.
Details and Rewards Structure for the Buildathon
Arbitrum has set aside a total of $500,000 to support the development of Frames, with $450,000 allocated for the “Frame It” event and an additional $50,000 reserved for in-person events like Frameathons, meetups, and workshops.
The first event will be a Frameathon in New York City, offering $20,000 in prizes for developers who create the most innovative Frames. More information about this event will be announced soon.
Participants in “Frame It” will have the opportunity to showcase their Frames in casts by the main Arbitrum account on Warpcast, a platform designed to boost visibility and engagement within the Farcaster community.
Developers are encouraged to think outside the box and explore various applications, from NFT minters and token deployers to integrating existing DeFi apps into Frames. The goal is to push boundaries and create unique applications that push the boundaries of innovation.
Eligibility and Reward Distribution
To qualify for the retroactive rewards, developers must ensure that their Frames have an on-chain component on the Arbitrum One network. Frames that offer tools or infrastructure supporting Arbitrum will be eligible, as well as Frames deployed on the Arbitrum Nova and Arbitrum Orbit chains. It is essential that these Frames are original and do not duplicate existing ones to uphold the uniqueness and innovation of the buildathon.
Arbitrum has stated that it may take up to four weeks to review each Frame to determine its eligibility for the retroactive rewards. The reward amount for each Frame will depend on factors such as its on-chain and social impact, as well as the remaining budget from the initial allocation. This approach ensures fair distribution of rewards that align with the value each Frame brings to the ecosystem.
This collaborative effort between Arbitrum and Farcaster not only enhances the functionality and engagement of both platforms but also sets the stage for future collaborations and innovations in the decentralized space.
