Fox Corporation, the parent company of Fox News, Foxx Entertainment, and Fox Sports, has announced a new partnership. The company has officially welcomed TIME, a well-known media brand, as its first external publishing collaborator on the Verify Protocol on Polygon. TIME will be utilizing the blockchain-based media platform.
Verify, created by Fox’s Emerging Technology team in collaboration with @gelatonetwork, is an open-source project. Developers and users are encouraged to contribute or fork the source code, furthering the goal of transparent content verification.
As part of its content verification and licensing strategy, Fox Corporation has partnered with Polygon Labs to launch the Verify Protocol. The platform, which began as an open-source project on Polygon’s proof-of-stake network in January, cryptographically signs content, including media, on the blockchain. This allows consumers to autonomously verify its authenticity from a legitimate publisher.
Additionally, Verify Protocol aims to negotiate content licensing deals with artificial intelligence platforms, covering the use of media firms’ intellectual property and potentially creating exclusive commercial opportunities. Smart contracts are utilized to grant access to content programmatically.
Mark Howard, the COO of TIME, expressed excitement about the collaboration, emphasizing the importance of reliable information in today’s world. Integrating Verify provides a source of fact-based journalism, contributing to the platform’s credibility.
The initiative is focused on transforming Verify into an autonomous zero-knowledge blockchain operating on Ethereum. Fox Corporation is working with Gelato to facilitate this transition, leveraging Polygon’s chain development kit for content verification.
This advanced technology empowers developers to create projects that transparently prove authenticity, facilitating faster and more affordable interactions. With over 300,000 content pieces from Fox Business, Fox News, and Fox Sports, Fox Corporation is utilizing Verify to manage content across its various platforms, including images and articles.
