CoinDesk has wrapped up its long-standing and highly impactful Consensus 2024 crypto event, solidifying its position as a must-attend event in the industry. A standout feature of the event was its innovative approach to engagement, with numerous interactive booths captivating and enlightening the thousands of attendees who flocked to the event.
Running over three days from May 29 to 31 in Austin, Texas, the conference brought together prominent figures in the crypto space to discuss the latest developments in crypto technology. Notable speakers included Bitcoin developer Casey Rodarmor, Chainlink creator Sergey Nazarov, MakerDao’s Rune Christensen, and Avalanche’s Emin Gün Sirer.
In addition to the main stage presentations, attendees had the chance to explore a variety of interactive booths showcasing some of the most exciting crypto projects in the industry. The event offered plenty of food, drinks, activities, and entertainment for all participants.
Despite the sweltering May weather in Austin, one booth that stood out was Dabba Wifi, which offered visitors a taste of authentic Indian Chai to cool off. Attendees were treated to a sample of India’s iconic hot beverage, known for its sweet, spicy, and milky flavors that are a staple across the country.
With a steaming cup of Chai in hand, visitors learned about Dabba’s ambitious plans to revolutionize internet connectivity in India through its decentralized physical infrastructure network, known as the DePin network. The company recently announced the rollout of Season 2 of its service, which includes the deployment of 10,000 Wi-Fi hotspots in India and globally, along with the launch of its Solana-based token that rewards Wi-Fi providers. Dabba aims to incentivize individuals to bridge the digital connectivity gap that leaves a significant portion of India’s population without reliable internet access.
Somnia, an omnichain protocol striving to create a unified metaverse where digital assets can seamlessly move across virtual worlds, also drew attention with its branded bags of popcorn handed out to visitors at its booth. The company showcased its Metaverse Browser, its flagship product, and hosted various events during Consensus, including the Consensus Coffee Meetup and a networking party on the event’s final day.
Polkadot was another highlight of the event, offering interactive experiences for attendees to engage, learn, and collaborate within its interoperable network. Through a partnership with race driver Conor Daly, Polkadot introduced attendees to the Proof of Attendance Protocol (POPA) tokens through pit-stop themed stations. Participants engaged in activities related to GameFi, decentralized finance, and real-world applications of the Polkadot ecosystem, earning rewards for their participation.
The event culminated in a “chill-out zone” pitstop where attendees had the opportunity to meet Conor Daly and his Polkadot-branded Indy racing car, providing a unique experience for fans of Polkadot and motorsports alike.
