The ENS Ecosystem Working Group has announced a new initiative to support important open-source projects and their creators through the Drips Network. Over the next six months, $50,000 USDC will be distributed to seven core projects, including Wagmi, ethers.js, graphql-request, OpenZeppelin contracts, noble hashes, scure-base, and dns-packet. This program reflects ENS DAO’s commitment to rewarding OSS initiatives that are essential for the proper functioning of their systems.

ENS Leads the Way in Providing Continuous Funding for Public Infrastructure via Drips
Continuous and transparent funding is made possible by the Drips Network, ensuring ongoing financial support for critical software dependencies. ENS not only supports direct software dependencies but also those secondary dependencies that are vital for its operations.

Eleftherios Diakomichalis, the creator of Drips, sees this as an example of ENS pioneering a new cultural norm where on-chain organizations consistently fund essential public infrastructure. The process is straightforward and effective, providing the necessary support for future public goods.

ENS DAO Acknowledges Foundational Projects with Drips
According to Slobo.eth, an ENS ecosystem steward, Drips offers a valuable opportunity to support open-source developers contributing to the ENS Ecosystem. This initiative demonstrates ENS DAO’s recognition of projects that serve as the backbone of its system.

Drips Network not only supports primary software dependencies but also extends its reach to fund secondary dependencies, promoting sustainable transparency. By showcasing decentralized funding mechanisms, other organizations can learn from ENS’s success in nurturing their digital infrastructure.

ENS Sets a Benchmark with Ongoing Support for Open-Source Developers
Consistent and reliable financing for open-source projects is crucial, as highlighted by this initiative. Lack of funds can hinder the maintenance and development of software tools in open-source projects, posing a significant challenge.

ENS’s funding model establishes a standard for organizations looking to sustain and enhance their digital infrastructure. Continuous support ensures that essential software projects and their developers receive the necessary resources, fostering a healthier and more resilient open-source ecosystem.
