Ripple, the platform behind the popular cryptocurrency XRP, has issued a warning against scams following its recent legal victory against the US Securities and Exchange Commission in the XRP case. The cautionary statement was posted on Ripple’s official account, urging users to be wary of fraudulent “Ripple” accounts, fake executive accounts, and others promoting “XRP Giveaways” or “XRP Airdrops.” Ripple emphasized that it and its executives will never ask users to send funds anywhere.
In its latest announcement, Ripple highlighted that these scams often involve impersonation of Ripple executives through fake accounts. These accounts frequently promote fake “XRP Airdrops” and “XRP Giveaways.” The crypto exchange reiterated that neither Ripple nor any of its executives will ever request funds from users. In light of this, Ripple advised its community to remain vigilant and cautious of potential scam accounts.
Ripple stated that these fake accounts are solely focused on deceiving and stealing from unsuspecting victims. David Schwartz, Ripple’s CTO and also known as “JoelKatz” on X, echoed this sentiment and warned the community about the growing number of scammers taking advantage of Ripple’s recent legal victory. Schwartz made it clear that no legitimate special offers, giveaways, or airdrops are associated with Ripple’s legal triumph.
The increase in scams is reportedly linked to the positive sentiment following Ripple’s legal victory. This has reignited interest among XRP token holders and the wider crypto community, making them prime targets for scammers who create fake websites and accounts promising exclusive offers.
Ripple’s proactive approach in alerting the community about these scams is aimed at minimizing potential harm and protecting users from financial losses. The company also encouraged users to verify the authenticity of any claims and report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities.
